Anke Schlünsen-Rico (M.A.) joined GERICS at the end of 2019. She supported the Helmholtz Institute for Climate Service Science (HICSS ) and WCRP’s Coordination Office for Regional Activities (CORA) as a foreign language assistant. Since the beginning of 2022, she has been responsible for the new GERICS project "Climate Service and Art".

She has a Master’s degree in Romance Studies and always aimed to combine art and language in order to convey socially relevant topics in a holistically sustainable way.

For the last few years, she has been working as a freelance cultural manager. On behalf of GIZ, she curated "Satellites and Aliens. Exploding Cities", photography on desolate urban issues, at UN Habitat III in Quito. In the course of the parliamentary vote on the Protein Report 2018, she realized "amazon-connection", an exhibition on the deforestation of the rainforest, in the European Parliament in Brussels. For Greenpeace Central and Eastern Europe and in cooperation with the IPAM (Amazon Environmental Research Institute) and Misereor she went with "Street Art from the Amazon" to the COP24.

She also draws on ten years of professional experience in advertising agencies such as Jung von Matt AG and Berendsohn AG.
