National climate assessments: Which countries have published a national climate report?
In conformity with the 6-year publishing period of the IPCC’s (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) “Assessment Reports” (see IPCC) we define a “climate report” as follows:
A climate report is a publication that compiles the current state of research on the past, present and future climate change for a particular country or region (potentially taking into consideration so-called “grey literature”), and interprets this research based on recognized scientific literature. Often a climate report will include scientific information about the consequences of climate change, associated risks and different adaptation measures. Climate reports serve as a basis for research-oriented decision-making in politics, however, usually without suggesting concrete solutions or political courses of action.
Based on our online research, over 40 nations worldwide have published climate reports (as PDF documents or as website content). As the majority of these reports are written in the respective native language, we were only able to consider the information available in English. If the reports truly deliver what is described is not verifiable for us. Our compilation gives an overview of the state in End of 2018 and makes no claim to completeness.
The reports are listed in several documents below, alphabetically by nation, with the report title, the year of publication, information about the original language of the report, and - where available - the respective abstract, with concise information about the content and the respective link.
