Farhan Saleem works as a Humboldt Fellow at the Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS) of the Helmholtz Centre Hereon since May 2023. He is currently working on the topic “Projected changes in compound climate events and population exposure across South Asia: Building resilience to climate change”. His research is funded by an International Climate Protection Fellowship for Postdocs by the Alexander von Humboldt foundation.

Dr. Farhan Saleem previously worked as a Graduate Visiting Student at National Centre for Atmospheric Research (NCAR, Boulder, USA) in 2019, to investigate the causes and mechanisms of extremely hot days over Pakistan. He also worked as a Research Associate in the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan funded research project entitled “Climate change extremes in arid to semi-arid and sub-humid region of Punjab, Pakistan“.

Dr. Farhan Saleem has completed his PhD study in Meteorology at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing China with a focus on “Extreme events in Pakistan under climate change” and expert in analysing changes in extreme weather and climate events (i.e., heatwaves, droughts and rainfall extremes), and its associated mechanisms and impacts under climate change.
